The most common bedding mistake isn't buying the wrong fabric. It's buying the wrong size. A duvet cover that's too small bunches up. Sheets that are too short pull off the corners. It's a small thing that quietly disrupts your comfort every night.
Start with your mattress. Measure its width, length, and depth. Most standard mattresses are 25–30 cm deep, but if yours is thicker (pillow-top or memory foam), you'll need deep-pocket fitted sheets.
For duvet covers, consider going one size up from your mattress. A king-sized duvet on a queen bed gives you that generous, hotel-like drape, and means less tugging if you share.
Pillowcases are simpler: standard and king are the two main sizes. Match them to your pillows, not your bed size. And if you use decorative pillows, keep it minimal. One or two at most.
When in doubt, check the product dimensions rather than relying on size names alone. A 'queen' can vary by brand. The numbers don't lie.
